About
Why does this exist?
The story behind the site, its dog-walk logic, and the delightfully ordinary question of whether now is a sensible time to head out.
Why this site exists
Weather apps are excellent at showing numbers, but they rarely answer the question you are actually asking at the door: is this a good time to walk the dog?
For a dog walk, it is not only about rain. Hot pavements, muddy grass, cold paws, gusts, ice, snow, pollen, your dog's coat, and how far you plan to go all matter. This site turns those details into a clear yes, maybe, or no, with the reasons shown underneath.
The lovely people on the Overclockers UK forum helped test the earlier Can I? sites, asked good questions, spotted awkward edge cases, and inspired the idea that everyday weather decisions deserve a simple, practical answer.
A word of caution
Forecasts are useful, but every dog and every route has its quirks. Shade, shelter, paw condition, excitement levels, road crossings, and your own local knowledge all count.
This is not veterinary advice. If your dog is unwell, has breathing issues, is very young or old, or you are unsure about heat stress, paw injuries, or cold exposure, choose the safer option and speak to a vet.
More than dog walks
The same idea could be useful for horse riders, working dogs, and anyone planning outdoor time with an animal. A weather forecast is only the start; the useful bit is understanding what those conditions mean for the outing in front of you.
An Android app is planned too, so saved places and a quick dog-walk answer can be close at hand when it is time to reach for the lead.
